Choosing the Right Foundation:

From Oushak to Jute "Selecting a rug is an investment in the soul of your home. At Thread to Form, we categorize our rugs by the craft technique used to create them. For formal spaces, our Hand-Knotted Oushaks offer a sophisticated, muted aesthetic with a high-knot count that ensures generations of use. For high-traffic areas like kitchens and mudrooms, our Flatweave Dhurries and Jute Rugs provide a durable, easy-to-clean alternative that doesn't sacrifice style.

In 2026, the trend of 'Rug Layering' has made it easier than ever to mix textures. Try placing a patterned Block-Print Dhurrie over a larger, neutral Natural Fiber Rug to add depth and color to your living room. All our rugs are made from renewable, natural materials—primarily wool, cotton, and bamboo—ensuring your home remains as healthy as it is beautiful.

FAQs

How do I choose between a flatweave and a hand-knotted rug?

Flatweaves (Dhurries) are thinner, reversible, and often more affordable—great for casual spaces. Hand-knotted rugs (Oushaks) have a pile, are heavier, and are considered heirloom investment pieces.

Are your rugs eco-friendly?

Yes. We use natural fibers like wool, jute, and cotton, and our dyes are low-impact and non-toxic.

What is the best way to clean an artisan rug?

Regular vacuuming (without a beater bar) is best. For spills, blot immediately with a clean, damp cloth. We recommend professional cleaning for our wool Oushak collection.

What is "Artisan Scaling" and can I get a custom size?

Because our rugs are hand-made rather than machine-manufactured, we have the unique ability to offer custom dimensions. Whether you need an extra-long runner for a grand hallway or a massive 12' x 18' Oushak for a great room, we can facilitate custom orders. Please note that custom sizes typically carry a 12–16 week lead time to allow for the hand-weaving process.

Why does my rug look slightly different from the photo?

This is the hallmark of slow craftsmanship. Since we use natural fibers and hand-mixed dyes, slight variations in color and pattern are expected. These "imperfections" ensure that no two rugs are exactly alike, giving you a truly one-of-a-kind piece that carries the signature of the individual weaver.
